MSA2015 is a great opportunity for metrology professionals and interested people to contribute and communicate with the wider metrology community about your area of interest or expertise. If you are presenting at MSA2015, please observe the following guidelines and you can also ask any questions directly to the committee via email to conference2015@metrology.asn.au or post in the Call for Papers thread in the discussion forum.
20 minutes are allocated for each oral presentation, both case studies and research papers. This must include a little time for introduction by the session chair, and a few minutes for questions at the end of the presentation. We suggest that you plan for 15 minutes of speaking time.
There are two preferred formats for the presentation – either PowerPoint or PDF. Please make sure your presentation is loaded before your session begins. The session chair or a helper will be available in the meeting rooms to upload your presentation onto the conference laptops for 15 minutes prior to the session. You should check that the presentation works as expected too.
We would like to ensure the conference proceedings are a complete record of the conference. This means we will publish, on the MSA website, copies of written papers, presentations (where written papers are not provided), and supporting material for the workshops and forums. The proceedings will be available to all MSA members and conference attendees.
Research papers: All those presenting research papers to the MSA conference are asked to prepare a written paper for the conference proceedings. The paper will be edited and converted to a pdf file and made available on the MSA website. The preferred file format is as a WORD file so that we can edit the file if required, but PDFs are also acceptable if they conform to the author guidelines given in the MSA paper template (link here to the template).
Case Studies: For case studies, we hope to make available PDFs of the presentations as given to the MSA conference. If presenters want to prepare a written paper instead, they should use the MSA paper template (link here to the template). Alternatively, they can also provide an annotated presentation (e.g., using the notes pages feature of PowerPoint).
Workshops and Forums: We will publish supporting material for the workshops and forums. This may include copies of presentations, papers, handouts, minutes of meetings, etc.
Unless we are otherwise advised, all material contributed to the proceedings will be released under a Creative Commons Copyright, which allows for free use of the documents so long as the authors are properly acknowledged and the documents reproduced in full – see the footer on the first page of the template and http://creativecommons.org/ for further information.
For this purpose we will run an opt-out system. This means
• Where authors provide a written manuscript, we assume they have implicitly given their permission to publish their paper (but not the presentation).
• Where authors have not provided a written manuscript, but have presented to the conference, we will assume they have implicitly given their permission to publish the presentation.
• Where presenters provide electronic copies of workshop or forum handouts and supporting materials, we will assume that they have implicitly given permission to publish.
If you do not want your work published on the MSA website – let us know.
If you want it published under a different copyright, modify your submissions accordingly, or let us know.
